Sharing my latest Ganesha idol project — standing 22" tall and 9" wide, it’s officially the largest size I’m able to create as of now. As I reflect on it's journey, I feel both proud and humbled.
Working on a larger scale brings its own set of challenges and surprises. One thing I didn’t expect. Coloring a big idol is actually quicker! What truly tests your patience is the drying process.
Initially, the idol weighs around 15–20 kg due to moisture. As it dries, the weight drops significantly, but even drying is key. This usually takes 15–18 days and involves careful rotation, moving the idol in and out to ensure every part sets evenly.
Once fully dry, I take a pause, a day or two to reflect on the final color scheme. That creative breathing space has become an essential part of my process. From there, the painting flows, smooth and joyful.
This project not only pushes my physical limits but also deepened my respect for the craft. Working with recycled materials is always special, but creating something at this scale feels even more meaningful.

Here’s to crafting consciously — one handmade piece at a time.
